El cotillo

El Cotillo is a small and charming fishing village located on the north-west coast of Fuerteventura, full of surprises that captivate visitors of all kinds. Its relaxed atmosphere and authenticity win the hearts of both tourists and residents.

The village offers a great variety of bars and restaurants serving traditional Canarian dishes and fresh local fish throughout the year, as well as fashion boutiques, art galleries, craft shops, and several water sports schools. There are also two supermarkets and all essential services.

The seafront promenade runs through the village from the iconic “Castillito” to the harbour and the urban beach, where many of the area’s most popular restaurants are located. It is especially recommended to take a walk or enjoy an aperitif at sunset, when the golden light of the evening reflects over the sea, creating spectacular views.

Throughout the year, El Cotillo hosts numerous events and festivals. During Easter, concerts and family activities take place; in July, the famous “Fuerteventura en Música (FEM)” festival is held on La Concha Beach over an entire weekend; and in August, the traditional Festivities of the Virgen del Buen Viaje bring ten days of celebrations for locals and tourists alike, including the popular Water Festival.

Just a short walk from the centre, visitors can reach some of the most beautiful beaches and coves in northern Fuerteventura.
To the north lie the calm “Lagos de El Cotillo”, with their crystal-clear waters and white sand — perfect for families with children. To the south stretch vast, wild beaches that go on for kilometres, ideal for surfers or anyone wishing to relax under the sun and enjoy the Atlantic Ocean.
