When we think of KaZa Hogar, our minds immediately drift to stunning modern villas, ocean-view apartments, and the exciting prospect of starting a new life in the Canary Islands. However, our commitment to this beautiful archipelago goes far beyond the boundaries of the real estate market. Living and working in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote means becoming an active part of a vibrant community, supporting its traditions, culture, and local talents. It is from this exact core philosophy that our proud, long-standing partnership with local motorsport and the majorero driver Daniel Peña García, face of the Darío Racing Team (DRT), continues to grow.
For several seasons, we have chosen to sponsor this fantastic racing team. For us, it is an immense thrill to see the KaZa Hogar logo prominently displayed on the vehicle’s front fender, positioned right underneath the headlights, as it tackles the challenging dirt tracks and kicks up dust clouds across the island’s iconic volcanic landscapes. But who is the driver behind the wheel, and what major challenges lie ahead on our shared racing calendar this year?
Who is Daniel Peña García and the story behind Darío Racing Team
The beating heart of the Darío Racing Team is its driver, Daniel Peña García. Born and raised in Fuerteventura, Daniel perfectly embodies the true spirit of the island: dedication, resilience, and an endless passion for his homeland and local sports.
His racing track record is a clear testament to his steady growth and a genuine talent cultivated over a decade of hard work. He first made his mark on the local automotive scene back in 2016, winning the championship title in the “Novel” category of the Fuerteventura Insular Championship. Since then, Daniel has achieved an extraordinary series of victories: he became the B4 category champion in Slaloms in both 2017 and 2018—a phenomenal year where he claimed a double crown by winning both the rally and slalom championships. In 2019, his momentum grew even further as he became the regional Slalom champion in the B4 category and the overall runner-up (subcampeón) of the Canary Islands in the dirt Rally specialty.
Daniel’s determination emerged even stronger following the racing pauses caused by the pandemic. In the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons, he firmly secured his first-place standing in the category B4 slaloms, while also achieving elite overall placements, including the title of absolute runner-up in the prestigious Copa Asfalto Tierra de Fuerteventura in 2025. Sharing the cockpit with him are highly experienced co-drivers, starting with the veteran Rayco A. Santana Martín and the promising young talent Yeray Peña Betancort.
The vehicle: a timeless classic built for the Canarian dirt tracks
To tackle the highly demanding and selective dirt terrains of the Canary Islands, the Darío Racing Team relies on an iconic vehicle, meticulously prepared for dirt track competitions: a Toyota Corolla GTi AE92 1.6 competing in the B4 category. Beneath the classic, timeless lines of this car lies a top-tier racing setup engineered to withstand extreme mechanical stress.
The engine is a 1,600 cc, 16-valve four-cylinder powerhouse capable of delivering 130 HP of pure energy (the famous 4AGE engine type). It features front-wheel drive, supported by a TRD close-ratio 5-speed gearbox and a non-catalyzed competition exhaust system. The vehicle’s handling is optimized specifically for rough terrain thanks to adjustable DMS McPherson suspension struts. The braking system relies on high-performance Ferodo 2500 brake pads, while internal cabin safety is guaranteed by a multi-point roll cage alongside professional OMP racing seats and harnesses. It is on this masterpiece of engineering and passion that the KaZa Hogar brand takes center stage, ready to conquer every corner.
Season goals and the thrilling racing calendar ahead
The current sports season stands as one of the most ambitious and packed schedules yet for the entire crew. The team’s declared goal is to consolidate its championship leadership in Fuerteventura while expanding its horizons by competing in provincial and regional championships across neighboring islands, even planning a prestigious appearance in a round of the Spanish National Championship.
The dirt track calendar will take the team through some of the most spectacular and historic locations in the Canary archipelago. In the dirt Rally specialty, the team will face legendary events such as the Rally Isla de los Volcanes in Lanzarote, followed by major Fuerteventura stages including the Rally de Antigua, the Rally Ciudad Puerto del Rosario, and the highly anticipated Rally de La Oliva. On the Slalom and hill-climb front, the agile Toyota Corolla is set to entertain fans at crucial events like the Slalom La Piconera, Slalom Motor Solidario, Subida Betancuria, and the Rally Sprint de Pájara.
More than a real estate agency: building a local network in the Canary Islands
Some might wonder why a real estate agency specializing in premium property sales and elegant building plots of land would choose to bond so closely with the world of dirt track rallying. The answer lies entirely within our corporate values. At KaZa Hogar, we do not just sell houses or manage local tax paperwork; we help people integrate into a brand-new social and cultural reality.
Supporting historic local sports entities like the Darío Racing Team allows us to build a solid network within the territory, support young local athletes, and show our international buyers that we are genuinely rooted in the heart of the island. When you choose to purchase an apartment in Corralejo, a villa in Lajares, or a plot of land in El Cotillo through our agency, you are choosing a partner that actively loves and supports the island in every aspect—from its golden beaches to its dusty inland tracks.
We are ready to experience every single kilometer of this season alongside Daniel, Rayco, and Yeray, confident that their determination will once again bring our brand and the pride of Fuerteventura to the very top step of the podium. See you at the tracks!
